My Five Favorite Cars I’ve Driven This Year [w/ Poll]

The end of the year is drawing near. It’s that time to reminisce on the cars and trucks driven in the previous year. Most sites hand out awards, and while we might do that in the future, I thought it’d be a good idea to talk about the favorites I’ve driven this year.

This is a list of favorites, and it doesn’t mean they’re new for the year. If I drove it this year, it’s eligible for the list. Simple?

Let’s get on with it!

5. 2016 Dodge Charger Hellcat

A year doesn’t go by where I don’t get a chance to drive a Hellcat. Driving a Hellcat virtually guarantees that it’ll be on the list. This past year was no different.

The Charger is my favorite Hellcat. I think it’s bonkers to have a family sedan with 707 horsepower. Not much more needs to be said other than the Go Mango paint is badass and I love it on this car.

2017 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth

4. 2016 Fiat 124 Spider (and Abarth)

Yes, it’s just a Mazda Miata with a FIAT badge. Wait, except that it really isn’t! Powered by a 1.4L turbocharged engine gives the 124 Spider (and the Abarth version) a much different character. Yet it still handles like a Miata, which is a good thing.

3. 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Miata Is Always The Answer. The Miata is the Genesis of the modern, reliable 2-seat roadster. It’s naturally-aspirated engine is great. It’s light. It’s fun. It’s not about speed.

If you want to drive a car for the love of driving, the Miata should be on your list.

2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

2. 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

The Alfa Romeo 4C isn’t a comfortable car. It’s not a daily driver. But I would buy one and daily drive it everywhere! During the course of 3 days over the July 4th weekend, I put 1,300 miles on it.

It sounds incredible. It’s fast. But most importantly, it’s gorgeous.

1. 2016 Ford F-650 Medium-Duty Dump Truck

Believe it or not, a commercial truck is a hoot to drive. You feel like you can run over anything and everyone gets out of your way. This is especially true when it’s painted orange.

I wouldn’t ever recommend anyone buy one unless they needed it for their job. The people who convert these things into luxury pickup trucks are odd. But it’s a cool truck and if you ever get a chance to drive one, you should!
