2018 Ford F-150 diesel fuel economy numbers released

2018 F-150 Power Stroke Diesel

There’s a new fuel economy king in town in the half-ton pickup truck segment. Today, Ford released the fuel economy numbers for the all-new Power Stroke F-150 diesel, and they were right where Ford predicted.

On the highway, the F-150’s EPA rating is 30 mpg, with 22 mpg in the city or 26 mpg combined. That highway number is 1 mpg higher than a Ram 1500 equipped with the EcoDiesel, though those numbers aren’t updated for the new model yet.

Ford didn’t provide us information at the time of writing about which models this was, but expect to see good returns across the range. One thing we like about diesels in half-ton trucks is that it’s easy to meet or exceed those numbers.

How will Ram respond? We’re not sure, but we know they well. Also, don’t forget, GMC and Chevrolet have half-ton diesel engines coming, too. It’s about to get very interesting.
