Acura preps for NAIAS by teasing RDX Prototype

2019 Acura RDX Prototype

On the heels of a November sales record, Acura is teasing the next-generation RDX with an image of a forthcoming prototype of the vehicle. The RDX is currently in its second generation (introduced in 2013) and is one of only two SUVs in Acura’s lineup.

The RDX Prototype is the first in a new generation of Acura products inspired by “Precision Crafted Performance” and leads a new design era in the company. It features a combination of multiple design attributes of Acura’s Precision Concept and Precision Cockpit concepts.

Acura describes the RDX Prototype’s styling as adapting, “the low, wide and sleek presence of the Precision Concept to an SUV, and features strong character lines that run along the entire profile of the vehicle. From the Precision Cockpit, the third-generation RDX features an all-new interior design, user interface and operating system designed from a clean sheet.”

How close is the concept going to be to the real thing? All indications are that the true exterior and interior of the next-generation RDX will be shown very soon.
