Meguiar’s Whole Car Air Refresher Review

Cars are smelly. We live in the them day-to-day, and that means odors and smells seep in. Sometimes we eat in our cars. Sometimes we spill things in our cars. It gets even worse when you haul around children or pets. So what do you do when you want to get rid of the odors?

For many, it means stopping at a car wash and hanging an air freshener by the rearview mirror. But if you’ve used one of those, you know the smell doesn’t stick around for long, and the odor returns. That’s where Meguiar’s comes in.

They have a Whole Car Air Refresher with Odor Eliminator that promises to remove the odors from all over the car. That means the seats, the headliner, the… everywhere. They sent me over their air refresher for a chance to try out. It’s an easy process, but does it work?

The air refresher works like a bug bomb. You start your car up, turn the air conditioner off and set the recirculate to on. Then you turn the blower fan on high.

Activate the air refresher by pressing a tab and locking it into place. Then you sit it in the middle of the car and shut the doors.

For 15 minutes, the car recirculates the mist throughout the cabin and the climate control system. After those 15 minutes are up, you turn the car off and open the doors. You let it air out for about 10 minutes and you should be good to go!

While there are several different scents to choose from, the folks at Meguiar’s sent me the Sparkling Berry Scent, whatever that is. It doesn’t smell bad — rather it smells like a nice perfume.

After the process is complete, you climb into the car and it smells clean and fresh. One thing I genuinely was worried about was the smell being overwhelming. It’s not. You can tell the car smells like berries, but it’s not overpowering. After several days, the car still smells like it did when the original air refreshing occurred.

While it’s not the only way to eliminate smells from your car, the Meguiar’s Whole Car Air Refresher is definitely a tool to add to your arsenal. There are a bunch of scents available, including a Spiced Wood and New Car Scent. It’s only $6.99 on Amazon and worth the purchase.

The manufacturer provided the product for testing. We opted to review it on this site and our opinions are our own.
