Ford has long been converting the Mustang from a muscle car into a sport car. Some would argue that the S550 generation of the Mustang completed that transition. Additionally, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires provide copious amounts of grip. A new front splitter and functional rear wing add downforce. It was a skunkworks project of Mustang engineers who wanted to build the car that THEY would want to drive.
