Be still my 8chy breaky BMW heart

It’s been a long time since an 8 Series BMW graced dealerships and showrooms across the country. That’s about to change as BMW is planning on bringing a new 8 Series in 2018. Today, they dropped a teaser image of the design study so we have a tiny idea of what to expect.

Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG Harald Krüger announced the return of the 8 Series at the company’s annual meeting. He then said, “The BMW 8 Series Coupe will build on our tradition of luxurious sports coupes and add a genuine dream car to our line-up – a slice of pure automotive fascination.”

We’re excited to see this upmarket move from BMW into the big luxury coupe market. A proper grand tourer that competes with the likes of the Aston Martin DB11 and Bentley Continental GT would be a welcome addition to the landscape of vehicles we can’t afford. But here’s to hoping that it’s pretty to look at, like this teaser image.

Now, we just need to talk about the return of popup headlights.
