Right now there are two variants of the legendary GT-R available for purchase in the United States. There’s the base model, which is hardly base, and there’s the NISMO version. One is designed for a daily-driven supercar experience, while the other is designed to tackle the race circuits of the world. There’s a decent amount that separates the two, and that’s before you even talk about the price.
Now, Nissan is filling the gap by offering a new version of the GT-R. It’s called the Track Edition, and it melds some of the great features of the NISMO with the more pedestrian GT-R Premium.
The Track Edition adds adhesive bonding to improve rigidity, a NISMO-tuned suspension, and tires from the NISMO. Buyers also get a cool aero kit to help with downforce. Though the Track Edition makes due with GT-R Premium horsepower, it still should be pretty quick. And it maintains some of the livability, including the premium stereo.
It’s a special order only thing — but who buys a GT-R straight off the lot? — and has a starting price of $127,990.
You can peep it for yourself at the 2017 New York International Auto Show next month, and order it later this year. Check out the full press release from Nissan, including even more details, below.
